What is IV therapy, and how does it actually work?
10 September 2025 · 5 min read
IV therapy — short for intravenous therapy — is a way of delivering fluids, vitamins and minerals directly into a vein through a small drip. It is the same trusted method used in hospitals and ambulances every day, brought to you in a comfortable wellness setting.
Straight into your bloodstream
When you take a vitamin tablet or drink a sports drink, it has to pass through your digestive system first. Only a portion of what you swallow is actually absorbed, and that amount varies from person to person. An IV drip skips the gut entirely, so the fluids and nutrients are available to your body right away.
What is usually in a drip?
Most wellness drips start with sterile saline — the same balanced salt-and-water fluid used for rehydration in clinical settings. From there, different blends add specific vitamins and minerals depending on what the drip is designed to support.
- Hydrating fluids and electrolytes
- B-group vitamins, which the body uses in normal energy metabolism
- Magnesium, an essential mineral involved in muscle and nerve function
- Vitamin C, depending on the particular blend
Is it right for everyone?
Our wellness infusions are designed to support hydration and general wellbeing — they are not a treatment for any medical condition. Everyone completes a short health screening that a clinician reviews before any infusion goes ahead, because some people and some circumstances are not suited to IV therapy.
