The Defender Infusion

Defender

Immunity · Protection · Wellness

Defender is the lighter, routine-friendly option on our menu: a focused vitamin C infusion in a litre of IV fluids. No long ingredient list, no ceremony — a short, simple appointment that slots into a normal day.

It's the infusion clients tend to book on a schedule rather than as a one-off: before international travel, ahead of a packed work block, or partway through a stretch of shift work and broken sleep.

Because Defender delivers a focused dose of vitamin C, a one-off G6PD blood test and a recent kidney function result are required before your first session — there's more on how that works below.

What's in the bag

What's in Defender

Defender keeps it deliberately simple — two components, described plainly.

IV Fluids

A sterile sodium chloride (saline) solution — the same IV fluid used in New Zealand hospitals and ambulances every day — delivering fluid and electrolytes directly into your bloodstream.

Vitamin C

A water-soluble vitamin and antioxidant that the body can't make, and can't store in large amounts. Defender delivers a focused dose in IV fluids — and because of that dose, a one-off G6PD blood test and a recent kidney function result are required before your first session.

Who books it

When clients book Defender

Defender suits people who plan ahead. These are the moments clients build it around.

Before you fly

Many clients book Defender in the week before international travel — a scheduled part of the pre-trip routine, right alongside the packing list.

Ahead of the big push

A product launch, calving season, an exam block, the end-of-year rush: when a demanding stretch is coming, some clients like to start it feeling organised and on top of things.

Shift work & broken sleep

Nurses, drivers, first responders and rotating-roster workers use Defender as a scheduled pause partway through a run of nights.

On a rhythm

Some clients settle into a regular cadence with Defender. There's no prescribed schedule — your clinician will help you land on what's sensible for you.

What to expect

How your appointment works

From booking to the final set of observations, here's the shape of a Defender appointment — simple, unhurried and entirely at home.

Step 1

One-off blood tests, first session only

Before your first Defender session we need a one-off G6PD blood test and a recent kidney function result, because of the dose of vitamin C given. Ask your GP, order them privately (around $95), or ask us about a lab referral (fee applies). Once your G6PD result is on file, it never needs repeating.

Step 2

Book online & clinical screening

Pick a time that suits you and complete a short health questionnaire. Every booking is individually reviewed by a clinician before it's confirmed — and may be declined on clinical grounds.

Step 3

A short, simple infusion at home

Your paramedic places a small IV line and the infusion usually runs 30–45 minutes — our shortest blend. Take a call, read, or just enjoy the quiet.

Step 4

Monitored throughout

You're monitored before, during and after the infusion, with a short observation period at the end — the same clinical habits your paramedic brings from ambulance practice.

For your safety, a one-off G6PD blood test and a recent kidney function result are required before your first session — due to the dose of vitamin C given. Request these from your GP, order them privately (around $95), or ask us about a lab referral (fee applies).

Defender is our shortest infusion — usually 30–45 minutes in the chair, within a comfortable appointment window of about 90 minutes.

Questions

Defender FAQs

Do I need blood tests before Defender?

Yes — a one-off G6PD blood test and a recent kidney function result, because of the dose of vitamin C given. Request them from your GP, order them privately (around $95), or ask us about a lab referral (a fee applies). The G6PD test never needs repeating.

How often can I book Defender?

There's no fixed schedule and we don't prescribe one. Some clients book around travel or busy periods, others settle into an occasional routine — your clinician will talk through what's sensible for you at your consultation.

What's the difference between Defender and Recovery?

Defender is a focused vitamin C infusion — shorter, lighter and $335. Recovery is our fuller flagship blend at $415, with vitamin C, a B-complex and glutathione, plus anti-nausea cover at the clinician's discretion. If you're unsure, book a consultation and we'll help you choose.

Will Defender stop me getting sick?

No — and we won't tell you otherwise. Defender is a wellness service, not a medical treatment, and we make no therapeutic claims about it. If you're unwell, please see your GP — and in an emergency, call 111.

How long does a Defender appointment take?

The infusion itself usually runs 30–45 minutes; with consultation, set-up and observation, plan for around 90 minutes all up.
