Magnesium: the quiet workhorse mineral
21 October 2025 · 4 min read
Magnesium rarely makes headlines, yet it is one of the busiest minerals in the human body. It plays a part in hundreds of everyday processes, from how our muscles relax to how we turn food into energy.
What magnesium does
Magnesium is involved in more than 300 enzyme reactions. In plain terms, it helps your muscles and nerves work normally, supports normal energy-yielding metabolism, and contributes to the maintenance of healthy bones.
- Normal muscle and nerve function
- Normal energy-yielding metabolism
- Balance of electrolytes in the body
- Maintenance of normal bones and teeth
Where we get it
Most people get magnesium from food — leafy greens, nuts, seeds, wholegrains and legumes are all good sources. A varied diet is the best starting point, and for many people it is more than enough.
Magnesium in a wellness drip
Some of our blends include magnesium as part of a balanced mix of fluids and nutrients. This is general wellbeing support, not a way to treat a deficiency or any medical condition. If you think you may be low in magnesium or any nutrient, a blood test and a chat with your GP is the right place to start.
