The B vitamins and everyday energy
12 November 2025 · 5 min read
If you have ever looked at a drip ingredient list and seen a string of B vitamins, you might have wondered what they all do. The B-group vitamins are a family of eight nutrients that work behind the scenes in how your body produces and uses energy.
Meet the B family
Each B vitamin has its own job, but they tend to work as a team. Together they support the everyday chemistry that keeps you ticking along.
- B1, B2, B3 and B5 — help release energy from the food you eat
- B6 — supports normal energy metabolism and the nervous system
- B9 (folate) — contributes to normal blood formation
- B12 — supports normal red blood cell formation and helps reduce tiredness and fatigue
Food first
B vitamins are found in a wide range of foods — meat, fish, eggs, dairy, wholegrains, legumes and leafy greens. Because several are water-soluble, the body does not store large amounts, so a steady dietary intake matters.
Why they appear in drips
A vitamin B-complex is a common part of wellness drips because the B vitamins support normal energy metabolism. This is general wellbeing support and makes no promise to treat tiredness caused by a medical condition. Persistent fatigue is always worth discussing with your GP, who can check for underlying causes such as low iron or thyroid issues.
